We recently upgraded our BB from UBB Classic to UBB Threads. We have one problem however.

Topics created in UBB Classic that contain links to other topics in UBB Classic still point to the old message board in UBB Threads. As an example look at the following link

http://www.mytoos.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=60054#Post60054

This is a topic that was originally created in UBB Classic but has been imported into UBB Threads. One of the posts contains the following link

http://www.mytoos.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=34;t=000269

which is to another topic created in UBB Classic.

The problem is that if the original message board is closed selecting this last link brings the member to the "This board is closed" page.

Is there a way to translate the f=34;t=000269 reference of UBB Classic to the reference of the corresponding page in UBB Threads?

As a work around I have enabled the original message board setting all of the forums to read only.

This has caused another problem were users are trying to log into the old message board. Even though all the forums have been marked read-only and text and a link to the new message board have been added to the top of the main page for the old message board directing them to the new one.

After being unable to log in they send me emails asking why they can't log in.

Use the redirector files which come with the importer; they will allow you to send the old links to the new forum. This assumes howver that you actually did an import of all of your old classic data.

I assume an import of all the old data was done. We actually paid to have the installation performed.

Where do I look for the redirector files? Can you point me to information on how to modify them to do what I need?

Hi Michael,

I believe I still have your install information on record. I'll need to take a look and see if there is an issue with the redirect scripts as they should have been installed.

Rick,

It has been awhile, did you find anything out regarding those scripts? The redirects do not seem to be working.

Thanks,
MichaelM
