I want to bump up the font size of member titles and post count in the author pane on a post. I would presume that in the control panel this is done by updating value in Post Properties>author-content, but there are no values in there and if I set a font-size value it does not change anything.

That should be the spot - what setting are you using?

I'm just adding "font-size: 10pt;" into that section (I've also tried 12, 14, 22 - just to confirm that it is not taking).

PS - when I add to special link properties it does change the size of the name, but does not change the size of the member title or posts.

There's a

<span class="small">
</span>
around that info, you'll need to edit the template to adjust that.

I think we're out of my league a bit now. Perhaps another day when I feel more daring. I've walked through that templates section and it frightens me.

It's not difficult. If you ever get around to it, you'd edit post_side.tpl in this section:

<br />
<span class="small">

change to:

<br />
<span>

(in case you ever want to add it back you'll remember where it was)

will that then default those other things (like number of posts, member title, etc.) to be the same size as the name (or whatever value I set in author-content?

The same size as the normal text on your site, or whatever size you add for author-content (the name is governed by a different class)

Awesome. Thanks! Look at me, editing a template. smile

One further question, I notice that the hypertext "top" lis the same size as the name in my forum. On this forum is is smaller. Is there a way just to adjust that?

I'm sure there is, depends on which 'top' smile

Whenever I see an area I want to adjust I do a 'view source on that page to see what the name of the class is being used to control that section, then edit it in the styles editor smile

umm, do not change small, simply add small to your extra css...

EX:
.author-content .small { font-size: 22pt; }

then the style will effect anything with "small" in the "author-content" area.

This method will make your styling compatible with any upgrades, unlike a template modification which will clear out once you overwrite the file...
