If would be nice to be able to limit the number of posts that a registered poster may make each day.

We have a few posters who are generally quite good but sometimes (often) post too much (thus hogging the discussions). I'm thinking in particular of one poster we've had to give "time outs" for posting 40 and even 50 posts per day. Having a settable maximum would allow these posters to choose their topics and words wisely.

But then what would Gizmo do then wink

Seriously not too sure how many times this would in reality be an issue?

These technical solutions to problem most of the time will bite on just that evening while you are away and somebody really has something to say.

People just have to behave, and if they don't, they get warned and eventualy punished. I don't really believe in searching for technical solution for everything a user can do wrong.

I would much rather see controls to stop spamming - i.e. sending the same or virtually the same message to multiple forums all within minutes (or seconds) of each other.

Personally this would be more useful smile

Well the same or similar might be a bit difficult to catch on the fly, but I supposed enhanced flood control to include all forums might work. Though I've been on some boards that use it and when you're trying to do a string of posts it is annoying.
