I was checking out a site from a contest on ubbdev and noticed that they had a block of content on the homepage that does not look like it is pulled from the news section.

here is the site: http://www.matesupover.com/

How do I do that? I have been poking around the control panel and cannot find any way to move a custom block to the center of the portal page.

Thanks

I think....... you have to create a forum that is only visible (read, write or reply) to Admin and add this forum to your portal page. Then, any topics that you create will appear on the main portal page but not in the forum list.

The alternative is to create a custom template but that's a little more in-depth.

Thanks. I have been using the method where the forum topic is not visible to users, but they can see the posts on the portal page. The problem is that I cannot keep on specific post at the top of the screen, so if I wanted a welcome message I would have to post anews article, then delete the old welcome message which would have got bumped down and repost it.

I figure there has to be an easier way. I have been looking for some sort of announcement or welcome message that can be show at the top of the front page.

I learned my lesson a long time ago that making too many changes to the code, or adding too many mods can make upgrading to a newer version a nightmare. I am trying to keep out of the source code and stick with what they give me in the package.

Thanks for the help.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but take a look anyway.... festive link

(It's such a minimal mod, it surely wouldn't be difficult to re-establish)
