Continuing the conversation from this thread (which I mistakingly responded to -- again, ntdoc, sorry!)... That really sound like a cookie or cache problem to me.
I'm running 7.2.2 on a reasonably large site and I don't have that issue.
Try deleting your cookie for the site and use Firefox for the browser. Also in the Control Panel on the left side near the bottom you can clear your cache there and see if that helps.
Give that a try and then let us know if you're still having this issue.
Are you on Linux host or Windows host? Tried clearing out the cache and deleting my cookie, and nothing. We're running on a linux host. The forum can be found here and the two seemingly-related issues we're having are: We're running v7.2.2, and I mean all the indicators within the same forum are showing read.
For example: two threads within the parent folder show new replies. I read one thread, then go back to the parent, but now BOTH threads are marked as read (i.e., not showing that I have new replies). BIZARRE, but exactly the same problem bengoshi is describing above.
Any idea where we should look in order to fix this? It's not the only problem we've had since we upgraded to 7.2.2, but one of the more annoying ones. (Another problem seems to possibly be related: when clicking on the thread that has new replies, I'm not taken to the new replies, but instead am taken to the last page of the thread.) Well don't see it as the issue but Zlib compression is disabled. Try enabling it if possible and see if that speeds up your forum any for you.
Got a ton of things to do but will try and sign up on your site and do some testing to see what I get within the next few days.
Maybe if one of the other guys with experience wants to take a look sooner that would be great as well.

Well, ZLib will speed up the amount of time serving the page to users; however it will do nothing about server lag (And will in fact add to it)

He's not reporting Server Lag though. I've found on a couple sites that overall speed seems faster with it enabled.
IF not, then disable it.
As for his issue of posts being improperly marked read I can't test. I just now went to sign up on the site and found that it won't let me using either FF or IE7
Think he has some settings wrong in Control Panel that need to be fixed there first.

Great it's not letting me let new users sign up either. Good times.
Where in the control panel should I be looking to fix this? Everything under "registration settings" seems fine to me, but obviously it isn't.

Well I've not setup and tested that as much as some of the others so hopefully someone will chime in soon.
Though if it is some type of internal problem maybe this is making it obvious. Could just be a setting in CP though.
I would probably start with very minimal settings for new users and see how that works.

Ok, I go to http://www.insidepulse.com/ubbthreads/ and get redirected to http://insidepulse.com/ubbthreads/Definitely see where it's getting stuck on the board rules and just keeps redirecting. It could be something as simple as the sessions directory not being writable, but if you can open up a support ticket with FTP info and admin login info I can take a look.
