Is there a way to link login info to a website that has the same?

In other words I want to be able to log into the main website for the game, then if they click the forum link they are already logged in... and vice versa if they are logged onto the forum boards that when they click the link to the main website they are logged in. We have specific sites that require a log in to access different information. I would also see a need for these to update each other's member listing as well (or maybe I just don't understand the animal in which I am asking for).

it would be a mod, but it's totally doable.

it really depends upon what type of integration you are talking about.

there could be something as simple as .htaccess, which has been done

or

it could be that the sites are sharing some sort of user DB (mysql).

and of course there are other forms of integration. in order to better understand what you'd need -- it would probably need more description from your side.

one thing that is always a little buggerish, is how do you handle new signups? does one side signal the other to auto add to the DB ? or do they share a common DB ?

how would deleting members happen?

all that stuff.. sooo it's more than a small ubbdev mod (in most cases) -- the docuwiki integration is an exception, where the wiki has an authentication api that is ready set to go for integration smile

Hmm good thoughts right now I am testing them both on the test server... so they share the same SQL Database. The website uses Joomla, so sharing the database (for the deletion of names etc.) May be the easiest way to go with that.

Especially now that I understand how difficult it can be. I would prefer that the signups etc be handled by UBBthreads (because I trust it more than I do the content management software) but I may not have a choice depending on the options available with it.
