I have a few issues with my upgraded forums. I post this after close observations, so I'm not just posting without thinking or investigating as much as I can.

OK

Language files

The online.php file.

When I edit the file in admin, it seems to update until I check. Below is how my online.php ends up when I edit things in there. So basically the file changes!

?!?

<?php
$ubbt_lang['FORUM'] = 'Forum:';
$ubbt_lang['THREAD'] = 'Thread:';
$ubbt_lang['GALLERY'] = 'Image:';
$ubbt_lang['SEARCH_BOT'] = 'R/A';
$ubbt_lang['REFERER'] = 'Referer';
$ubbt_lang['AGENT'] = 'Agent';
$ubbt_lang['ONLINE_HEAD'] = 'Who is online';
$ubbt_lang['REGED_USERS'] = 'Registered User(s).';
$ubbt_lang['USER_STATUS'] = 'Status';
$ubbt_lang['USER_TITLE'] = 'Title';
$ubbt_lang['LAST_ACTIVE'] = 'Last Activity';
$ubbt_lang['ONLINE_LOC'] = 'Location';
$ubbt_lang['USER_USER'] = 'User';
$ubbt_lang['ANON_USERS'] = ' Guest.';
$ubbt_lang['BOT_USERS'] = ' Anonymous.';
$ubbt_lang['FROM_IP'] = 'From IP';
$ubbt_lang['NO_REG_USERS_ONLINE'] = 'There are no registered users online.';
$ubbt_lang['NO_SPIDERS_ONLINE'] = 'There are no spiders online.';
$ubbt_lang['NO_GUESTS_ONLINE'] = 'There are no anonymous users online.';
?>

------------

When I re-upload the original file, it fixes itself.

you are playing with 4 languages on your site -- might try to get ONE working totally, then add the other 3

I suppose I did that Sirdude.

I only added them when I was ready to add them (ie other things working).

Again what do you suggest from here? Deleting the languages and then uploading the few corrupt files?

yah.. go to english as your default -- kill others

get it all nice/happy..

then deal with languages..

it's kinda like the same dealio with smileys.. there are default and default_dark dirs for them..

so when you add a smiley, you still need to add it to BOTH dirs, if there are styles using one and/or the other..

Kill others as in delete them from the server?

Do you think that will make a differencE? Then should I upload the original 7.3 files for the pages that are causing problems? I am worried about messing up the whole thing by doing that....!

Thanks!

If you make a backup before you start doing things, chances of messing up are slim to nothing.

Backup of what? The language files?
Or the whole thing?

I don't actully want to do that if at all possible. If just uploading the files affecting things is possible I'd like to do it that way.

Just the language files.

That should be quick enough.

If the files are corrupted, then yes it would fix problems.

However there are several files that you have asked us to give you script changes for over the last week or two, one minor mistake can stop your forums from working.

Also bear in mind, that Groupee will only assist you with stock code (referring to you having not had a response to your support ticket) - so you may have to upload a stock version of the software before they can assist.

Understood. (But I haven't changed the relevant files here I believe). Anyway, I will wait to see.

Thank you

Any changes to any stock scripts will probably prevent them from assisting.

Whilst they do not mind you making changes, they cannot support them in any way.

That is their policy according to the terms of your licence I believe.
