Hello,

After upgrading to 7.2.2, it seems our search function won't pull up the references for smaller keyword searches. For example: "bed" in the Feng Shui Forum, "sex" in the Qigong Forum, or "math" in the PhotoReading Forum all give the error listed below.

They've all worked with these words before the upgrade.

Minimum Searchable Word Length: is set to 3

Hi Shawn,

The method of search now being used is a MySQL FULL_TEXT search which by default does not allow any search terms less than 4 characters. If you have access to the MySQL config you can change it to a lower value but it is recommended that you do not do this as it could impact the speed of your site if you have a lot of users doing searches.

Rick has said that he will be working on some changes to allow the old style of searching in a future upcoming update. I'm not exactly sure though when that will be available.

Interestingly enough, I can now get results for "math" on the PhotoReading Forum, where as before I could not.

Is changing MySQL config worth it for the site? I don't know at this point. Thanks for the option though.
