Is there any way possible to change the software so a "Delete Thread" will instead move it into a hidden forum or something like that instead of completely deleting the posts?
I have a moderator who occasionally deletes a thread that others would like to hang on to. So I would like to be able to recover the deleted posts.
Yes, I know that the obvious solution is to take away his delete permission, but... he actually owns the board. Over time, has been less and less active, and every once in a while, kills an important thread. They are usually ones where some controversy is discussed.
At least he doesn't close the board randomly like he did in the past.
Thanks.

I think IP Board does that and vB
If you delete anything it goes to the TRASH or some other forum and then if deleted from there it will actually delete out of the database. Only Admins/Moderators can view the deleted information by default.
Something that might be good to consider for a UBBT update.

Sorry LockMan, just the nature of the beast. At times some posts are overlooked or just may not ring a bell for someone at the time. Then later on for some reason it just seems to click better.

Any way someone can put the request for a "Trash" forum up on the wish list? That would be just he ticket for me. But then of course, I would still need to prevent my favorite moderator from deleting things from the trash.

With 7.3 it has a LOT more granularity for control. You could remove that moderator from Trashcan rights (once implemented)

I've been mulling over this idea and honestly, I think it'd be better off as a modification than a built in feature... :hides from tomatoes:

Maybe if someone with experience created the mod and made it publicly available.
