When a normal member goes to make a and adds gremlins or stylized text (colored, bold, different font, etc) when they press preview post one of two things will happen depending on which markup setting they have selected:

With “using UBBCode” the gremlins/stylizations appear.
With “using HTML” or “using HTML and UBBCode” the gremlins/stylizations don’t appear.

The strange thing is that for admins it works differently:

With “using UBBCode” or “using HTML and UBBCode” the gremlins/stylizations appear.
With “using HTML” the gremlins/stylizations don’t appear.

So what I want to know is how to get the normal users preview to work like the admins.

When HTML is enabled for regular users, a few precautions are still taken, and in the preview it causes a bit of a problem. Right now, there isn't any way to fix it without disabling HTML for regular users. We need to eventually switch it so you can apply a list of allowed HTML tags, then we can fix this one.
