Rick,

I want to use my SSL server for logins and the CP links, is there a easy way and what templates do I have to modify?

I dont want to have to run the whole forum through SSL.

The server has separate http and httpd directories, so its a matter of changing the paths.

Thanks!

I can't understand why anyone would want to have a SSL login for a message board. It's not a bank or site where your selling stuff over the internet right from the message board is it.

I too would like to see this as an option... why? well, for the same reasons as banks, to protect user login information...

In fact, i encourage users to access my site through ssl in the first place (other than the fact it circumvents most content blockers)

Well I don't use it but also don't forget about the subscription feature.
I would think most visitors would get a warm and fuzzy feeling knowing that the connection is secure.

I think ubbthreads needs to support SSL. Again just login, CP and subscriptions as a minimum.

Look at the opposition vbulletin has had ssl login and cp for sometime now, I have a friend who wanted it and it got added ages ago.

The option should be there, it's up to you to use them or not.

Well, I stand corrected here. I do see with the subscription stuff doing in house that this is actually a good idea. I had never thought of this.

If your SSL and normal apache can pull from the same directory, then you'd need to edit the login and cp links in the template. It *shouldn't* require much more than that. If they have to pull from seperate directories then it's going to be quite a bit harder.

I'll probably stick in an option for this at some point.

My server the http and https are seperated.

It just means you have to copy over the files and they ate installed twice.

But you don't need the whole installed files copied, just the CP links and images used in these.

Of should then 'kick' you back to the standard http server for the rest.

It's just CP and log in that is SSL.

Rick - you could make a list of the files needed on the SSL server.

Most hosting I seen normally use seperated directories.

A symbolic link should be able to work for you without having to have two sets of files installed...

Hi Gizmo,

Yes that is true.

As long as Rick allows you to specify seperate URLs. So then anyone having shared http and https or seperate it all works.

Can this then be added into 7.5 beta?

It might be to late for 7.5 . Beta 7.5 was just published today.
