We just upgraded to the latest release and now our attachments are not working. If I try and post a message and include an attachment, when I go to File Manager, it allows me to choose the file. When I click "Done Adding Files", it takes me back to the post but shows the file count of 0.

So, I went to the feature settings and clicked the attachments tab. The storage directory is:

c:\inetpub\wwwroot\ubbthreads\uploads

If I test the directory, it works fine and tells me the directory exists and is writeable.

When I click "update feature settings", it saves the path but it strips out the slashes, leaving:

C:Inetpubwwwrootubbthreadsuploads

Any ideas on why it's behaving this way and what is needed to fix this?

Thanks

HERE Is a post on the same path issue but dealing with the avatar path settings. This would also apply to your problem.

Not sure what fixed it though. Single or double forward slash.

That got the downloads working again! Thanks.

File Manager still won't update or upload the attachments but at least part of the problem is solved.

I don't quite understand the still existing problem you stated. Can you expand on the issue?(what is the error you get)
BTW was it single or double forward slashes?

Hey Ruben,

There were 2 issues that I thought might be related. First issue is the path wouldn't save with the slashes. Using the double slashes allowed the path to be saved correctly and it allowed attachments that were uploaded in the old version to now be downloaded.

The remaining problem is that the File Manager will allow me to select a file as an attachment but when I click the "Done Adding files" or "Add File" buttons, they do not respond. The "Done Adding Files" will close the File Manager screen, returning me to the message/post screen but then the File Manager link shows "(Total Files: 0)". It's like the files are not actually be selected for upload even though a valid file was selected. When I say valid file, I mean one with an allowable extension and less than the max file size allowed.

Thanks.

Well I tried to register at your site but registrations are moderated.
Not knowing the file type I think there are still some lingering problems with PDF files.

when you select the add file button does it make a line entry just about the caption area showing the filename?

But anyway in your attachment directory is a file created called test. This is created when you test the permission for the path you entered. Try deleting that file and go back to the control panel in the attachments section and retest. Maybe that file is corrupted.

Thanks Ruben.

I'm heading out for a bicycle ride home. I'll be back online in about an hour or so and will check that out.

Just FYI, I tried uploading a JPG and it behaved the same way.

Appreciate the help - have a great weekend.

First thing you'll want to do is check the permissions on your tmp/ directory make sure it's writable, as it stores files here before moving them to their final destination when the post is actually submitted.

Hey Rick,

Thanks for that info. I assume this is the same as the tmp directory that the Permissions Check lists on its page. In that case, the permissions in UBB says it checks out OK.

Take care

Well JeffJay since I can't register I was able to visit a few things.
One item I can do is change styles in the registration screen and I see the ubbthreads style is kinda hosed up.
Possibly you have some corrupted files regardless of permission settings other than the styles files??

Thanks Ruben.

I'll give that a check either this weekend or early next week.

I really appreciate the time you've given.

Have a great weekend!
