I'm working on setting up attachments on the BB and have two issues I need insight on: 1) My directory isn't testing out. I think it's a issue with being able to write to my server but I'm not sure how to adjust this. 2) It's giving me an file size error. This may be related to issue #1, but I'm not sure. Can't find anything in the CP to adjust allowance for attachment site.
Please Help!!!

On the directory, make sure you are putting in the full path to the directory and that the permissions are set to be fully writable.
For the attachment size. That is set under Forum Permissions. You'll see a setting for the number of allowed attachments, as well as max size.

that the permissions are set to be fully writable. That's what I'm having issues with. I'll have to get with Yahoo to figure out how that works on their servers.

Hi there, my first post on here and while searching I found this thread. Hope you dont mind me jumping on this but I am having exactly the same problem here.
In my forum CP I am getting this message each time I test the directory: "Directory does not exist! Test failed. Either the directory was not found or cannot be written to by the web server".
I am writing JUST the directory name in the "Attachment Storage Directory:" box and putting the FULL URL to Attachment Storage Directory box
I have been to my provider and all permissions are set. I checked and double checked this.
I am complaetely lost now as to what the problem is, I am not great with technical terms so if anyone can help in plain English that would be much appreciated. I am happy to go step by step. Look forward to your reply's. Thanks

For a clue on what the path should be. Assuming you have a working forum, goto Control Panel » DB, Paths & URLs copy Absolute PATH to Main Directory: to your Control Panel » Feature Settings-Attachments Attachment Storage Directory: and adjust accordingly to where your desired attachment directory will be at. Then make sure your attachment directory is set to 755 using your ftp program. Then run the test link. If successful it will place a file called "test.file" in the directory. This file is needed to make the feature work.

Hi Ruben,
Thank you for that you're a star. It was the "Absolute PATH to Main Directory:" bit that I didnt know. I was putting just the name of the directory I had created. It has now passed the test although I didnt do the last bit you said about the ftp because I dont know how to do this but it has passed and the test file is there. Thank you.
I dont suppose you know what I am supposed to put in the MySQL Error Log Storage Directory: box as well do you?
I just want to be sure I log the things I need to Thanks

No problem. It is the same thing as before. Pick and make a directory you wish to use. Then place the absolute path in the field and run the test.

And BTW. The error log is useful when you have issues in the future, To reference. So it is suggested to establish this log.

Also whatever tool you use to view the test.file will usually show what the file permissions are. And allow you to change them. And you can check some permission settings at: Control Panel » Permission Checks If something has failed you can double click on the problem to get more details with the problem
