Okay this has been discussed before called mass email if you search for it. But quick down and dirty. Goto to your control panel. Control Panel » Member Management Build a list of members. In your case it would be all. So just select submit. At the very bottom of the list will be some options. Action Select from the dropdown list "Email" All Members or Selected Members? Select all members Select submit. The rest will walk you through your email options.

Just remember that if you elect all members. Some hosting plans will have a limit on number of emails sent. So you may need to break up your member search to make it a smaller number of members to send to at a time.

Well you can make a post and while doing so make it a global announcement. Not sure what you mean by home page. are you talking about the portal or forum summary page? Global announcements work like a sticky topic, always at the top of the list. But they will appear on every forum.

Couple of things. It looks like your portal page is not enabled. See the Portal Page menu item at the top left of this page. Which is in Control Panel » Portal Settings Then you can set what forums appear in the portal. As well as other settings for the portal such as islands, cache time etc If you select say forum1 and post your announcement then it will appear in the portal. But it will roll off to the bottom if you add posts to the forum or allow others to post. Replies do not count. Also read the note when enabling it. If you select multiple forums to appear then it ignores private forums and will display. So anyway you could do both, enable the portal page and set the announcement as a global post. Then after time you can edt the post and deselect the global announcement so it does not appear in all forums.

I noticed in following your instructions above, that I the field for available forums to pull news from was populated with a list of all our forums and is not editable, as well as the one to exclude from pulling news from, so in other words both fields had all the forums in, which meant none of them got news pulled through from, if you know what I mean. Is there a way to fix this?

The list just displays all the forums. You need to select which forum or forums you want to display in the portal. Or not to display in the next option
When you select one forum with a mouse click you will see it gets highlighted. Just click on the forum you want with your mouse. Or hold down the Ctrl key while selecting multiple forums with your mouse.
Of course you will need to click on the submit button at the bottom when done.
