Many many users of the board got this today. i got emails from several dozen users of the board and they all got this. is there anyway to stop this stuff?

email addresses do not show on the board, so did the spammers somehow get into the control panel?????

Looking on your forum it does show public emails. So if any of your users put their actual email address in the public email as well, then this could be why.

where exactly is that setting? i just poked around for a few minutes in control panel and here https://www.ubbcentral.com/doc_admin.php & didn't see it. i bet you can tell me quickly. thanks again.

I am not aware of a feature setting to turn off the display email address but you can limit who can see it in cp>> Site permissions
Such as
Can view Member Profiles
Can email posts to others
Can view the Member List

I have them turned off for Guests.

too bad. there used to be that setting.... not good.
we have had dangerous stalker types in there harvesting email addresses before. I don't want anyone to be able to get any email addresses off of this board.

Looks like you got it fixed with site permissions.
In older versions we only had one email address to enter so there were options to hide them. With the 7.x version we now have the registration email which is not viewable by others and we have the public email address which is viewable by site permissions by group as far as view member profiles are concerned.
