www.News12.com/LI uses UBB Threads. (v7.4.1) I deleted my posts , yet anyone else's quoted of my post does not get deleted.

Is there a code that can be added to allow the deletion of subsequent quoted posts if the original is deleted??

I PM'd admin on that board, but they very rarely answer PM's from members, so of course, my quoted posts are still up there. I PM'd them 7 hrs ago. It's obviously NOT their "day job"....

Hmm, no feature to delete quoted posts, so they'd need to manually do that. The problem with auto deleting quotes of a deleted post, is the quotes aren't necessarily attached to a post they come from (since they can be altered or manually created).

It sounds like you are a member of the board. Not a moderator or Administrator. If this is true then why would you expect to be able to delete a post by somebody else.
Even if you started the topic and someone else replied or quoted a post by you. Then you decide to delete your post if allowed. It will not delete a reply from another user.
Think about it.
Would you like it if another user was able to delete your posts.

Yes, I'm a member there... w/ over 9,000 posts and a member for 4+ years. I also run my own message board for a few years (not a UBB board tho). I'm not TOTALLY a stranger as to how UBB works tho.

I don't want to delete other's POSTS.. just what *I* posted, and that was quoted by someone else..

You know, sometimes you hit "quote" when you reply to a person.

I posted a picture yesterday, then it was quoted by others, just so I knew they were replying about my picture. I deleted my original post, but obviously, everyone's quote of my picture stayed.

Even tho I know this, I simply forogt...... someone pointed out to me to just delete my picture off Photobucket and thus all the links would come up dead.

I did that, and my pics are gone.

On the board system that I use, there are codes and scripts that can be added to the headers and footers of the board/s to tweek it up a bit and I was just wondering if there were codes like that for UBB Theads. I would then PM admin and TELL THEM about it.. I know that's futile, because they ignore everyone anyway. It's very sad really, yet I still post there, LOL....

Read Ricks post entirely. Especially can be altered.
I could manually add a post and just add quotes using a valid user name and make it appear that it is quoted by another users post.

Maybe this is something that needs to be addressed?

Ruben (and Rick), I understand where you're coming from... if someone wanted to really screw w/ someone they could just alter their own posts... just as simple as putting in the [quote] tags...

Normally, tho... someone posts an XXX pic or something, and N12 deletes the ORIGINAL post, but not the quotes of the post.. (they're real idiots... and since they don't respond to anyone's PM's, they certainly aren't around to read this, LOL..of course, I'm sure another poster will find it and copy it to the board, LOL)

But, sometimes the picture or whatever is on the border of harassment, and they STILL don't delete the quotes, so a code to delete subsequent [automatic] posts, would be a nice feature.
