What controls the text/background color in the Topic Preview box? I loaded the Halloween style http://www.dennyp.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php and the Topic Preview looks blank.

I initially thought there was some reason causing the preview information not to be displayed. But in a topic where I have a couple of words in red, those words displayed. The topic preview box in that style does change size with the length of the displayed post. But there is no readable text for the default text color.

Topic Preview appears to be working fine in all other styles.

If I understand you correctly.
there are two css settings for the hover tool tip
Control Panel » Styles » Edit or Add a Style

Some times using the copy link to the right of the property will fix it.

BTW this is one of the enhancements added later on in the 7.x series so older styles will not have a setting for them.
