I can see how to send a PM to the person who posted a message. But I can't see how to send them an email.

Is there some option that I missed in the Control Panels?

Thanks.

as an admin you can just look at their profile and get their email that way.

if your not, you can only contact them via PM if htey have opted to hide their email address.

It is probably easier for one person per Bad Frog's method.
But for multiple members.
CP>>Member management
create your search for members
At the bottom of the list is a Action list
Select email
Under that is
All Members or Selected Members?
Then select perform selected action
That will start your email options.
Export a list or send mail directly

Okay as a user then.
A Member now has two email fields in their profile.
The main one used for registration is private and is used for things such as lost password,Watched topic notification,PM notification.
They now have a additional public email address field in their profile.
If they wish to allow others to send email then they would populate that field in their profile.
This was something added a while back to add some privacy for the user from spammers.
If they use the public email address then anyone that has access to view a profile can access the email address.
So if someone allows guests to view profiles on a board then the member would be subject to spam mail.

It is a little confusing to a user coming from classic where the one email address was available by everyone.
In hindsight, Rick probably should have enhanced the profile a bit to let a user know the email was private.
And add something as a option to allow the address to be public or not, and say something to the fact that they can use a alternate email for public use.

BTW, Rick did add it to the FAQ link for the boards.
But who reads the FAQs but as a last resort. wink

Okay kudos to you instead of Rick. blush
All I am saying is you give out info and if people don't read it it is useless. It needs to be in your face stuff when changes happen.

I stole Rick's CP code and put it on the FAQ to make it more tidy (with the accordion style menu's) and did updates to a couple entries (not sure offhand, but compare the faq pages from pre7.3 to now and you can see) tongue
