I am using FireFox 3.5.2 for Linux. I see a few problems with icons/images not appearing throughout my new 7.5.4.2 UBBT site. For example, on the new post area, none of the icons appear and none of the buttons for text markup appear.

I have tested the same site using FF 3.5.7 for Win XP, IE 8 and older versions of Mozilla for Linux. These browsers all work and display the icons correctly. It seems only the FF Linux has this problem. I have JavaScript enabled.

Good point. Yes, I do see the icons on the UBBCentral site using linux FF.

all of em or some of em ?

Also note, I do see the icons in the CP Display Options menu.

do you have the Firebug add-on installed ? that would be a good diagnostic tool..

i run doze, so i don't have a linux client to test with..

I do not see any of those images in the Post form (or the icons). Also some of the other images like the PM notice are missing.

I'll try the Firebug ...

I've rechecked the /images directory and all the files look OK in my install. Permissions on the /images dir are 755 and the files are all 755.

755 for files is overkill.. 666 would work for files that need writing like images/markup, graemlins, etc..

dirs that need writing need 777, but you are really having a read problem (or so i guess)

Other software that may block Java

Even if Java is installed and enabled in Firefox, it may be blocked by other software or Firefox add-ons, such as the following:
Windows:

true, but ubb.threads uses javaSCRIPT not java

now, i agree that noscript might be blocking javascript stuff.. i'd only assume that he'd whitelist his own site however

I see them, I am running Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100214 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.8

Ureka! The problem was the "koniro" theme. Should have checked that 1st. Oh well, problem solved.
