And somehow when i attach a gif or jpeg file, nothing will show up. I did the chmod for the new directory to 777 (Unix server). And on the admin control panel, I am had set the path, url for the attachment, the file type and the file size.
However, after i did the attachment and nothing shows up, i went to that url, and there isn't any image being uploaded there.
I was wondering about the php.ini . Is it included in the ubb threads software? Where can i find that file? Is this something that i have to discuss with my webhost?
And when you mention about uploading a php script, i am not too familiar with php programming. and where to upload that php scrip to?
That script can be uploaded to any directory from which you can run PHP scripts. But phpinfo() provides information that could be useful to people trying to hack your site, so you should delete that script as soon as you've gotten the output from it.
php.ini is the primary PHP configuration file. It's not specific to UBB.threads. If you don't operate your own server, you probably don't have access to change that file yourself, and would have to contact your web host.
However, in the PHP manual (available from php.net), the description for the function ini_set() says that the file_uploads and upload_max_filesize parameters are among those that can be set in an .htaccess file, as well as in php.ini, so that's an alternative. I don't know the syntax for setting those within an .htaccess file, though.
So at the top of the post.... when you click on the "attachment" link..... what URL does it take you to? You said you can view the uploaded images via the URL.... but what URL is the link from the post taking you to? Are you getting a 404 error?
What i meant is when i typed the url that point to that attachment folder, I can see the attachments in there. So, the php.ini is working because i can upload the attachments.
The question is: how come it didn't display on the forum itself? What should i do? or didn't do?
Nothing displays. If you attach an image it will NOT appear in the post. There is a hack at ThreadsDev.com to get that done..... but otherwise all you get is the link to the Attachment. Just like my image shows.
Do you have a URL to a post that you've attached something to so that we can see what might be wrong?
