Servers are located in San Jose California at Silicon Valley Telecom & Internet Exchange

As for a test IP/URL ubbcentral is hosted at the same facility.

Still waiting on our request for a block of IPs that we need and then we'll be making dedicated IPs available, probably at $2.50 a month, or at least in that ballpark, maybe less.

OK I have to ask this. Can we get the $99 going rate if we purchase hosting on a month to month basis? And do we have to have you install it or we allowed to install it our selves which I can do.

Yes, the $99 license is available with any hosting purchase, even month to month. And you are more than welcome to install it yourself.

Obviously, that means that someone could just purchase the cheapest hosting option for a month and then host it elsewhere to save $20, but that's a lot of hassle for that amount so we haven't written in any stipulations against doing so. But if it becomes a pattern then obviously we will because that's not the intent of the discount.

Rick, do you anticipate any dedicated servers for your realm down the road?

What limits will there be on Database size? We are running out of our 100mb at our current host and hate to have to delete good information from time to time...

Yep, dedicated servers are definitely coming. We can actually do them now, we just don't have them automated. Hit me up with a PM if you'd like to get some more info.

Your database size is only limited by your hosting plan size. No other restrictions are in place.

So you are saying even with the 5gb plan you could have a 1gb DB and no worries?

Correct. As the database grows however, there may come a time where the resource usage required might necessitate the move to a VPS. So if you did grow to a 1 GB database and your forums were quite active then that might be the case. But that would be true with any hosting company.

Two more questions Rick on shared hosting.
1) email limits.
Is there a imposed limit on number of emails per time period
Such as sending a email to all registered users.

2) domain transfer/registration/renewal.
I would rather not mess with finding my own dns provider.
I find it easier to just have my host provider perform the transfer and renewal.
I see you offer to transfer or register on the order page.
So will you be offering a renewal service also?

1) Currently there is no imposed email limit. Obviously we don't want to host spammers, so we'll deal with those individually instead of imposing limits on everyone that could impact normal usage, like emailing all forum members, etc.

2) Yes all domain name related services are available, renewals, transfers, registrations, etc.

Thanks Rick! We are only at 100mb right now, but we have to delete stuff every now and then to keep it under a hundred frown We also have performance issues every now and then that I have not been able to track down. Do you have a example sites hosted there that we can see in action? It that where this site is hosted?

Ian

Rick, what service do you go through for domains? I use enom and have used others in the past, just semi curious.

Great to see some hosting plans up.

Is there any chance fully-managed, dedicated (or semi-dedicated) hosting will be offered for popular forums with several hundred users online at peak times and a DB of about 2GB?

Yep, we're actually doing dedicated and vps plans now on a case-by-case basis. You can email me, pm me or open up a ticket for more info.

Can you give an idea of how many concurrent services are on it so we get an understanding of the load on these quad core servers.

Excellent news, Rick. I will definitely be in touch about dedicated hosting in the near future.

Rick,

Is ColdFusion available with your hosting services? We run a database application that uses ColdFusion services and our current ISPs performance has been very slow since they "upgraded" their servers.

Check out this link for the public view of the database. Don't be surprised if it times out. That's been our complaint since they upgraded servers.

We don't offer coldfusion currently. I'll need to look to see what it takes to offer it.
