Hi all. I was wondering if the next version UBB will pass the W3C testing to show those 3 fantastic words:
"no errors found!"
I find about 14-21 errors in pages tested with the version we're using, 7.5.4.2. which is pretty good but..... One of our local newspapers just "upgraded" their web presence for a new, flashy look but with over 400 errors and many warnings they aren't going anywhere fast. The reason I ask is because if UBB is going mobile and CSS driven I believe the need for testing and passing is evermore pressing. Besides, I'd like to brag to our members that you are right there at the forefront and helping us as best as possible to access our information. Thanks very much.

That is our goal. We're working on validating pages as we're redoing them. We're probably at about 95% validation right now overall with a few things to work through still, but we're tagging those that need work for further tweaking.

Thanks Rick, excellent news. Being able to put to put those "W3C passed" icons on any website is, in my opinion, a huge positive. I wish we had the same easy testing for Accessibility but it's a different kettle of fish. I used to develop government websites in Canada, as much as I could, to the Section 508 standards as I thought they were as good as it gets. Section 508 Thanks.

I'd offer to help, but it seems so many hands are currently in the cookie jar...

On the accessibility portion we were recently informed of a tool that we'll be working with to help in this area as well: http://wave.webaim.org/

I use that as well Gizzy, but the WAVE checker will actually look for things that will trip up disabled users. You can catch most with the w3 validation tool, but the WAVE one has caught a few that help with the test screen reader software we're using.
