Hi, My forum has been up and running fine for several years, but this morning when I tried to access it I got the following error. I haven't made any changes and can't seem to access any of the forum pages, including the control panel. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this and get my site back up and running?
UBB Error
We encountered a problem. The reason reported was
Database error only visible to forum administrators
Please use your back button to return to the previous page. Thanks! http://www.iwrf.com/forums/ubbthreads.php

If you don't have SQL error logging enabled in your control panel, then what you need to do is edit your libs/mysql.inc.php file. Look for a line that has:
$showerror = 0;
Change that to:
$showerror = 1;
You should then get the actual database error and we can give more info on the issue.

Thanks Rick. Since I can't access the file from the CP, can I edit it with notepad and then replace the existing file? Also, what permissions should I give to mysql.inc.php file?
Cheers- John

The file has to be edited in NotePad (or any other standard text-only editor; don't use Word or anything that'll add additional characters to the file).
The file should be 644.

If you have PHPMyAdmin you can access the database and repair that table

You'll want to be sure that after the issue is repaired, you reverse the change to libs/mysql.inc.php since it can divulge information to users who don't need it...
