With my website being a UBB forum and hosted here too how do I go about adding meta tags so that search engines are more likely to list me?

In the cp-->Display Options--> HTML includes tab. At the bottom is a spot to add meta tags and such

found it

how exactly do I type them in there? Just type each word per line or do I have to add something to it?

Would deff add this

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

And the rest something like

<meta name="keywords" content="word1, word2, word3, etc">

so add this JUST like the above <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

then for each word <meta name="keywords" content="word1, word2, word3, etc"> just place the words I want to use in place of word1 word3, etc

That is correct.
You did not bold the open and close arrows so don't forget to put them in.

that's not necessary now, since header.tpl already does that for you.

so you really just need keywords and such
