I'm wondering if the "Show User Avatars" option under Display Options/General/Primary/Topic Display is supposed to remove user avatars from each individual post. We use them but only want them to show up in user profiles, because they're user "mug shots" - too large for the forum and people don't want to see their face on everything they post.

Anyway checking the "Show User Avatars" checkbox doesn't seem to do anything. The avatars show up either way. Can anyone tell me how to keep them from showing up on everyone's posts? Thanks.

I never tried to disable that option.
But I would bet you need to use the content re builder in the control panel to rebuild the post to show a change.

I tried rebuilding everything and the avatars are still there. They refuse to go away! Checking and unchecking the box seems to do nothing.

In case this is indeed a bug and not just me being dumb, I found a round-about way to hide them. Add this to the "extra" CSS:

span.small img {
display: none;
}

Well I played with the setting a bit.
And it appears to be a browser cache issue.
Just turning the setting on and off.
IE8 plays nice with the change but Firefox is a bit picky.
You have to close all the open pages then clear cache. then the change happens.
I don't use chrome so I don't know about that one.
