UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads Version 7/8 Support Site crashed...any debug tips to see the issue?

Our website went down this morning with out of memory errors...after a hard reboot, all other mysql apps are working *except* our ubbthreads board.
The backend db is accessible/queryable via PHPMyAdmin...
However, trying to view the boards simply spits out a blank page.

I've put in a support ticket, but does anyone have any tips on getting a basic debug going to at least see where it's failing in terms of querying the db, etc?

Trying to setup PHPFireBug but not having much luck...I am mostly just trying to see if there is a front end file corruption issue, or if the backend is corrupted or if our backend is now so large (I believe the db is 1GB+) that everything is now timing out?

Hmm, actually its looking like something went haywire with the UBBthreads right before it crashed as we got two emails from our server and more than 3GB was added to the system in under two hours?

That may explain why it can't load now...is there any way to clear the db's cache from mysql or PHPmyadmin?

And the offending line in ubbthreads.php is....

@include("cache/forum_cache.php");

Which again seems to point to the cache just blowing up overnight to the point that it overwhelmed things...and now can't load.

Is there a way to manually clear this - I don't have any access to the UBB frontend/backend.

Can I just clear out the 'cache' directory and it will autorebuild?

Ok, I have fixed it - I (backed up) and then manually cleared out the /cache directory except for the index.php.

After that - presto, site is back up and running.

What I suspect happened is that the cache or something went crazy and wrote out using all of our disk space...but leaving a corrupted file in the cache.

After reboot, it was trying to load up a half-written cache file and that is what just produced the blank screen instead of the msg boards.

Anyway, wanted to post the resolution in case any one else hits it.
