Changing Groups From Donation to Subscription.
Needing to make some Group Changes.
1) Keep existing Member Plus accounts Active. But not allow it to be selectable anymore (hide it). 2) Create a Second User Plus Account to become a 3 month Subscription.
The problem is i need the existing (1) Accounts Active as they were a One off Donation. And bring in the (2) Second User Plus Account to continue on but instead of becoming a Donation become a Subscription.
So can i make (1) De active ? As in it can no longer be selected. But existing Members Continue to Keep its Status.
Bring in (2) so New Subscribers can only choose the New Subscription version and not the old Donation.
I don't want to deactivate (1) in case the members of that group go in to thin air or no longer get the extra privileges associated with that account.
I have the knowledge to make the New Group, its just what is the best practice without screwing it up.
Thanks in Advance.
Mark.

Hi Mark,
I'd need to test on this when I get a moment, but I believe if the group is deactivated, then the members will still belong to the appropriate group. I believe you could also just change the group itself so it's no longer a donation group but a subscription group.

I have to keep the "Group" the same as it was a life time promise to those that already have donated to become part of that group.
It will be good to have that user base of x amount of members, so anyone wanting to become a member of the "New" group will be the subscription group under the same VISUAL name but its Group 2.
Yeh i can see how i can change it from Donation to Subscription but as above, i kind of made a promise to those first to sign up which i want to honor.
If i take the plunge i will let you know how i get on. But its going to be in place some how by 1st Jan 2011
Mark

it does look like i can deactivate that group. And it keeps the members and privileges in place.
NOTE : Deactivate and Delete are not the same thing.
So it looks like i can create a new group as a subscription and use the same group icon. (Give it a new name or it complains).
and it should all work fine.
That's the theory lol
