It seems that my ISP has recently changed their policy on "nobody" sending emails (standard way PHP sends information). I have searched far and wide on how to make UBB send emails using my own email address but cannot seem to locate it...little help?

switch to sending mail via SMTP instead.

apache, when configured using DSO ( faster, but less secure ) for the php process uses 'nobody' as the linux user. you can see that if you are running TOP in a shell.

so this prevents you from using the built in /sendmail dealio.

Ok, I'm assuming you mean the line "Use specified SMTP Server:" under the advanced settings of the Primary Settings page. I'll give that a shot and see. Their reasoning was that it facilitated spam.

yes, that is what i mean

and their reasoning is correct too.. it does facilitate spam from malicious scripts..

problem is, when they lock it down, you get screwed even though your board isn't generating spam..

it's a WHM/CPANEL setting that they enabled, probably because someone _ELSE_ screwed up and blasted out a ton of emails using sendmail or mail() in php..

you got caught in the crossfire laugh

Concur. It would be nice however if they would let all their account holders know. I found out by getting bounces on all the approved new forum emails that went out. about 30 of them.
