Hello all, this is my first post on here so I apologize if it is in the wrong section or has been addressed already.

Is there a way to run an IP address search through the database to see if a user has two or more accounts or not?

I'm not sure what version it was added in, but in your preferences (My Stuff -> Preferences) has an option "Notify me when someone accesses multiple accounts." which sends you an email when a user logs into more than one account.

That setting actually tells you when multiple users log-in from the same IP.

Another variation I thought would be helpful is knowing if the same user logs in from multiple IPs during exact moments in time, or during a short period of time.

This might tell you if someone is sharing his log-in credentials (would be helpful for private/subscription boards).

To do the search you are asking for, you can go here:

Member Management / View/Edit Members / Advanced Search Options / Last Post IP (or Registration IP)

But what I would like to see is something where the new user registration could compare ip addresses against those that have been used recently. It would help screen out banned members who are trying again.

Are you describing this feature that is already in place? If you enter a banned IP address here, it also prevents someone from that IP from registering.

I rarely ban by IP address. I'm referring to people who try to reregister soon after they get banned.

+1 Anyone else have the problem of banning a member and then they just turn around a register again?
