Hello all, noob here and I hope I'm posting this in the correct place.
Does the UBB software allow for the person you put on ignore to essentially vanish completely from site. The ability to toggle and see what the person wrote kinds defeats the idea of an ignore function. Yeah, I know, self control and all that.
However, having the ignored person be, for all intents and purposes, completely gone from view would be a huge benefit.
Any chance of this happening? Thanks for reading, Jeff

There has been some minor discussion on this feature. Meaning it is not truly a complete ignore just as you state. But I don't believe it will even be considered at this point in time until version 7.6 gets out the door. Personally I like the way it works now except for the fact it is not a global ignore. You still see them in the whos online and I believe they can still send you a private message as I recall.

I think on ignore, they can't send a PM. I'd rather the ignore feature completely hid another's posts from view, personally, rather than having the ability to toggle. I'd rather a complete and global ignore. It is our first suggestion to two users who don't get along.
If it's not apt to be considered now, I hope the idea/concept might be revisited for more discussion and input later.
Just my 2c!

I'd rather the ignore feature completely hid another's posts from view Agreed! I have a number of users who complain that a particular user upsets them and want him/her banned. It would be useful to be able to allow them to block the offenders posts. Although I can see how it could confuse the 'thread' of conversation. In which case, just a thought... maybe replace the post with something like... 'You have chosen not to view this users posts.'No reference to the 'offender' (there may be a few). I realise that this ignores the nature of the 'true' ignore feature... I dunno, just a thought.

Hmmm but then again, what do we do with the people who respond to the 'offender'?
How far does 'ignore' go?

Well, say I ignore SD; he should be able to see me prancing around (because I'm ignoring him, not visa versa) but I wouldn't see him at all (because, for this example, I dislike him and don't want to see him).
Though I think if the logic was getting updated, mods/gm's/admins shouldn't be able to be ignored...

I have a user who who has been asking for something similar. Basically a way for him to "block" specific users from replying on any threads he creates.

Ignore user is a sticky wicket. It really is a mess if you would allow a user to restrict replies to non-ignored users.
And then, what about quoted text? How could you prevent the ignored user's post from being quoted by an un-ignored user, so in effect, the ignored user's text is seen?
I just got a suggestion/request from one of my users who uses the "Ignore User" feature a lot. He suggested an "Ignore Thread" feature. That would be easier to implement.
