An old member requested that I delete his account. In order to keep his posts, I changed his display name first, then I deleted him retaining the posts. The window said he would be anonymous, with the new display name. Upon submitting, I see he's now "Unregistered" with the OLD NAME -- exactly what he didn't want. Is there a way I can change his Display Name on all of his posts automatically? Thanks, JG

Good bug report but I think it is to late now to do anything. My 2 cents Since the anonymous place holder is for all posts. How would you discern what post is from who.

Well, his original display name is attached to each post. I'm hoping there's a query I could use to change that name to a different name. Either that, or I'll have to go and delete all his posts manually I suppose.

That's weird since the username/pdn isn't stored in the posts table; it is however stored in the topics table, though that's only for the last poster.
Could I get you to use PHPMyAdmin to search for the username (in all tables) and see where it shows up?

Could I get you to use PHPMyAdmin to search for the username (in all tables) and see where it shows up? Searching for the original name I get: 41 matches inside table ubbt_POSTS 6 matches inside table ubbt_TOPICS I see his original name in these columns: POST_POSTER_NAME TOPIC_LAST_POSTER_NAME

Well, the 41 matches in ubbt_posts should just be where people reference his name (they should be in the post_body fields); ubbt_topics should just be last poster in a thread... Could you try to verify these are the only instances?
I'm wondering if you may have to clear your cache and maybe rebuild forum stats

Okay, let me clarify: The 41 matches in ubbt_POSTS all contain a column called POST_POSTER_NAME with his name in it. I edited one of them with his new name, and it's showing the new name on that post. The 6 matches in ubbt_TOPICS has his original name in the TOPIC_LAST_POSTER_NAME column. I apparently can edit these all to the new name manually. I suppose I can just do that as there aren't that many. Thanks for the search idea

:snicker: I was in such a hurry when I ran out (when posting earlier) that I didn't check all of the fields of that table . BTW: UPDATE `databasename`.`ubbt_POSTS` SET `POST_POSTER_NAME`='newusername' WHERE `ubbt_POSTS`.`POST_POSTER_NAME`='oldname';
