UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums Resources and Customizing How Do I? Cookie path and multiple subdomains

I'm in the process of buying a copy of PhotoPost to put onto images.haroldandrews.com . I have my version 7 board at forum.haroldandrews.com . The support forum at PhotoPost let me know that I can integrate the two if they both use the same cookie domain.

Do I need to set the cookie domain on the Photopost install to something like "forum.haroldandews.com" to work with the the boards default cookie path setting of "/" in the Control Panel Primary Settings?

AFAIK you should just have to set your cookie domain to haroldandrews.com on both with the path of /

This is because www. is infact a sub-domain and works with the cookie domain set to yourubbtsite.com.

It would be nice for both www.yourubbtsite.com and yourubbtsite.com to work at the same time - but this requires another cookie on your PC. If you go to this thread -http://ubbcentral.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/167132/page/1#Post167132 you will find yourself logged out (assuming you are currently on the www version)

If you're running Apache you can just use the mod_rewrite engine (make sure the module is loaded). Simply edit .htaccess in your ubbthreads directory and add:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.domain.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [R,L]

With this enabled, accessing the site from anything but www.domain.com will change to www.domain.com.

I use something similar in my web root .htaccess to change non-www connections to www for consistancy
