Hi - My forum went down after my ISP upgraded to PHP 8.x. They warned that any and all PHP scripts should be updated. I'm getting the following:

Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: Unsupported operand types: string + int in /home/xtcom/public_html/forums/libs/ubbthreads.inc.php:226 Stack trace: #0 /home/xtcom/public_html/forums/libs/ubbthreads.inc.php(190): ubbt_validate('int', '') #1 /home/xtcom/public_html/forums/libs/ubbthreads.inc.php(63): get_input('ubbt_myid', 'cookie', 'int') #2 /home/xtcom/public_html/forums/ubbthreads.php(50): require_once('/home/xtcom/pub...') #3 {main} thrown in /home/xtcom/public_html/forums/libs/ubbthreads.inc.php on line 226

I can't access my control panel but I believe my forum is V7.x. Do I need to purchase the latest version of UBB Threads to correct this problem? Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Best - Scott

No released version of UBB.threads supports PHP v8; it is only capable of running on PHP7 as mentioned on the main site system requirements.

Before you ask.
UBB 8 is running as a beta version now on this site but no ETA on release.

Gizmo, Rubin - Thanks for the information. My ISP won't run PHP 7.x so I have no way to roll back to the older version. PHP V8.0 is the only option. Can anyone here suggest some options to get the blogs running. Many thanks.

I wish I had a answer other than moving to inmotionhosting.com
I just got off the phone with them and the salesman said php 7.x is still available till sometime in 2025.
But that answer was for today things may change.
They are a great host for UBB I have moved 3 UBBers to them with no complaints.

Option 2 is to beg your existing host to roll you back

Option 3 buy a renewal with UBB with agreement from the programmers first to install it for you since all that is left we are told is the installer/upgrader script.

Rubin - Thanks. My ISP won't budge on a roll back so option 2 is out. As for option 3, I have no problems buying a renewal and developer installation. Am I correct in saying UBB.Threads has been ported to PHP 8.x except for the installation/upgrade scripts? Less those scripts, a user install isn't possible at this time. If someone could please clarify this, option 3 works. Many thanks.

Yes read the shout chat on the right side of this page
isaac and Gizmo are the programmers so They are the people to contact.
btw
they probably will charge a special fee for upgrading since this is not a normal upgrade

Rubin - Thanks. I have 3 UBB.Threads hosted by the same ISP. My ISP is doing software upgrades to be completed this week. They say to avoid file transfers until upgrades are completed. The one that impacted me was the PHP V8.x upgrade. I'm guessing it's best to wait for the developers to complete stress testing before a professional install is possible. Less the install/upgrade scripts, could that be done sooner? Perhaps one of the developers can jump in with additional information on what's possible.

Curious what programmer fee would be as I have been paying an extra $80 a month for last 10 months to keep PHP 7 on my hosted server.

This is a very interesting topic, more and more of the UBBThreads forums are being affected.

I do wonder why there is no info from the software owner.

I have 3 blogs that are shut down given my ISP upgraded to PHP V8.x. They did warn scripts would need to be updated. Rolling back to an older version of PHP isn't an option for me. Need to wait for the new release of UBB.Threads which is in the works. If I understand messaging, this forum is running under PHP V8.x for stress testing. Install & upgrade scripts are being worked on.

Hi - Are there any updates on when UBBThreads will be released to run under PHP 8.x? 3 blogs down and my ISP provides no roll back on the PHP version. Am I correct this blog is running under PHP 8.x for stress testing? If install scripts aren't completed yet is it possible to get a professional install? Many thanks for any information you can provide.
