UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 6 Version 6 Support Parallel installation of 6.5 Beta?

I'd like to install the 6.5 beta in parallel with my existing installation of 6.4.2 at forums.operationsports.com. I was planning a fresh install in a second directory so that the staff could begin to use it - with both 6.4.2 and 6.5b pointing to the same DB. Then we could transition it over when we felt fully acclimated.

ARe the database changes such that this won't be possible? Will the 6.5b scripts break 6.4.2? Does anyone have experience with this sort of an install?

Don't do it.

Never run two different versions (numerically) against the same database, first of all, but I just don't think it would even run in this case. The changes are so great that they incompatible.

If you even run 2 different forums (on the same server) and use the same database. Any changes in either forum that involves the sql tables will affect both forums. such as adding or removing certain members, adding or removing forums and so on. I have done alot of testing with forums and sql tables.

The ultimate "prise" would be to have subforums. And to have the ability to have any subforums that are added be able to use a different sql database. You could literally have hundreads of forums tied together at one address as long as you had access to the database name and password..

But, I wont start the subform discussion because it has already bee said, "not in this releas or any future release"
