I'm about to upgrade from 6.3.1 to 6.4.2. Will the easiest method be moving all files from 6.4.2 to the forums directory on my server (except main.inc.php, config.inc.php and theme.inc.php)???

Would the Unix command look like:

You'll have to forgive my lack of knowledge in the command line department, but I'll bet someone else can be of more guidance than I! Let me see if I can find someone to answer that...

Will I need to run more that one ALTERTABLE, or should the latest one cover everything?

No run each altertable from your current version to the version you are updating to. I think there will be 2 for you - the 6.4 altertable and the 6.4.1 altertable. But double check the UPGRADING.html file after you upload the new files to be sure.
