As ubb.threads seems to be stuck to pixel sizes as standard, I went tinkering. I think it's important for the user to have control, so that they can scale their fonts up and down.

However, has anyone managed to do this with ubb.t? I've been playing with the CSS, but it's a nightmare. SO many tables, within tables, within tables. It makes inheritance a nightmare. I get it right in one bit, it makes another bit go odd. Then there's the difficulty between browsers and how they do things differently.

So any advice would be appreciate if anyone's gone through this pain please.

Also, does anyone know if this thing that's replacing ubb.t will be more up to date -- i.e. no tables and better accessibility?

Thanks

The new product uses percentages to declare font sizes. Percentages are the most safe way to do so, as none of the major browser vendors choke over them as much as ems, or points.

I created a percentage-based stylesheet a while ago for TrekBBS with relative ease. Everyone uses it as the default. Feel free to use it as a cheat-sheet. (It's a 6.4 style, though, and there are a few hacks on the board...)

The new product uses tables for layout. Non-table based layouts, while superior in a few ways, also are very difficult to style and integrate properly into most website layouts.

The new product will also take the WCAG guidelines into account. We'll be shooting for A-level, with a chance for AA-level.

Thanks very much Charles. I'll take a look at that stylesheet.

Although, I see you suffer from the problem of Opera and IE looking quite different in font sizes. So small font size in IE means unreadable/very small, at standard, in Opera.
