UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 6 Version 6 Support Applying english as default for old users?

Upgrading from an ancient UBBT version to version 6.5, as per upgrade instructions, I had to remove all languages but english before starting the clicking the "Upgrade Area" link in UPGRADING.html. Now some old time users report login problems, most probably because they have set a no longer available language as their default?!

Is this possible, and if so, how can I apply english as default language for all current users?

This SQL Query

UPDATE w3t_Users
SET U_Language = 'english'

Thanks Josh! Do you think the assumed cause for these login problems was right?

Doing a

SELECT COUNT(*)
FROM w3t_Users
WHERE U_Language = 'english'

gives 2332 results,
<> 'english' gives 511 results,
<> '' gives 2843 results,
on a board with 55988 members. Isn't that odd?

Based on this observation, isn't this a better query;

UPDATE w3t_Users
SET U_Language = 'english'
WHERE U_Language <> 'english'

Either would work fine. If you only have english, then my query forces everyone to english. Yours forces everyone to english that isn't already at english. Same thing. Yours is more work. But both should put everyone at english.

Yeah, if they have selected a language that doesn't exist, they'll have errors everywhere. They may need to ditch their cookies before they can login - as there's a cookie which stores langages too.
