It also says that is a name they gave it (ubbdev.com) and not a official name by any means. It is their way of reffering to the new downloadable Groupee.com is working on.

Official word was given in the last ubb.threads newsletter. (Reprinted with permission on my site).

Ok. There's just so much speculation, wild announcments, slamming, name calling, one upmanship, removing domains, redirection of domains, demoting, etc, it's just confusing. JC, I feel sorry for you at times. You try to put some sanity into the mix, Josh tries his best to stay neutral and help people, and at times it seems like Groupee has left everyone. I suppose it time it will all smooth over and life again will be good. I still have a .threads license, but at this point am not sure what I'm going to do with it as my subscription has expired and I don't really see a renewal in my future for it. Not with all the uncertainty that surrounds it at the moment. I try help when I can, but my knowledge of Threads is a bit limited so I usually just try and point people to threadsdev when appropriate.

Well, according to Infopop:

Hello UBB.classic and UBB.threads Existing License Holder!

Deadline 10/30/05

As you already know, later this winter, UBB.Classic and threads will no
longer be offered as a NEW product and future upgrades and patches will no
longer be done, so I’d like to take a brief moment to tell you about a
promotion Infopop, now known as Groupee Corp, is offering our current
classic users, which I think is very exciting.

Groupee is offering up to 4 free months of service on regular class and 2
months free on business class plans using the new Groupee community when you
switch over from classic to the Groupee Community.

The benefits are many, but with the hosted ASP Groupee package you get the
following features in an easy to use, admin friendly, and more powerful
platform.

*Link to the new look version 2.0 of Groupee Community we'll be releasing
this winter 2005.

* Features available Winter 2005.

In addition, we’ll migrate your existing UBB.Classic or threads members and
posts over to your new community for you for free.

This promotion lasts for only until October 30th, so I urge you not to
hesitate. We are not taking away your existing community just providing a
way to upgrade to a more advanced product.

So what's the status on the new downloadable?

I recall that the alpha/beta release was due in Spring... and it's already Autumn. I don't see how a 6 month slip can take place, and all this without a single word from those above to all us customers. A deadling was given then (Spring release), but no deadlines can be provided now? This isn't exactly the pharmaceutical business and scientists aren't working on some miracle cure you know...

I think Infopop/Groupee should come forward and let us know what exactly is going on, and when the new software will be released.
