How do I completely hide message icons and instant graemlins from my users? I hate them, and would like to keep my board completely free of them. Help!

Open public_new_topic_form.pl and find:

$disable_smilies and replace it with:
<input type="hidden" id="disable_smilies" name="disable_smilies" value="yes" />

Then remove: $smilie_list

You'll need to do this in the following templates also:

public_new_reply_form.pl
public_pm_form.pl
public_edit_post.pl

Should do the trick.

Message icons can be turned off in the CP - I assume in general display settings.

Graeme -- I did turn off message icons before posting this, but it didn't make a lick of difference for the Instant Graemlins. I can't believe that the Graemlins aren't an option that can be turned off or on by the administrator.
