You can protect your board by .htaccess and give the PW to your testers. You can also copy your existing board data from live forums and overwrite main forum cgi scripts <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

You could also just use the "security by obscurity" method - don't tell anyone where the beta board is. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Simple and sufficiently effective for the purpose.
