Hi. I would like to set up our UBB forums so that messages are moderated prior to going live:

user posts message --> message goes to moderator --> moderator either approves or rejects messages --> approved messages are made live so that public can view and respond to them.

This is necessary as one of our planned message boards is about health issues and, due to the brand involved (a pharmacy chain) we need to ensure that all posts are factually correct - otherwise someone might post a message that ends up killing somebody.

Is there any way to set UBB up for pre-moderation??

Without adding a hack, I think this is the closest you could come:

Set up a forum 'Pending posts' (or similar), which anyone can post to, but only authorized members (admins, moderators) can reply to. In the description for that forum, you could add a note that the posts haven't been approved yet. After a post has been approved, it could be moved to a 'regular' forum.

That probably is the closest you're going to get. There is no such function as pre-moderation in the stock-UBB. And I've never seen nor heard of a hack to do this.

You can always try asking in the UBB Code Hacking forum or over at https://www.ubbdev.com and see if anyone has any ideas on a possible hack.
