Version 8 has been in development for a little while now so instead of keeping everyone in the dark during the whole process, we'll be releasing some information here and there as we can.
For those that are interested, you'll want to check in on the Changelog from time to time. Don't be too discouraged if some time goes by and there isn't anything added. Since this is a major rewrite there will be spurts where there really isn't anything exciting to note while we redo many of the scripts.
There is also a topic that you can use to discuss the changelog.

We've just released version 7.5.3 into the Members Area. This is strictly a bugfix release which fixes a couple of issues that needed to be addressed while we continue to work on version 8.
You can see the list of fixes in the Release Notes.
You can discuss this release here.

We've just upgraded to 7.5.3. This is strictly a small bugfix release, so again there is no extensive beta period necessary. Over the next day or two we'll verify that we've fixed everything that we said we've fixed and then we'll release this to the Members Area.
We'll continue to put out maintenance releases for 7.5.x if they are needed while we work on version 8.
If you'd like to see the list of changes, you can view the Changelog.

We now have an importer available for Simple Machines Forum 1.1.x in the Members Area. With this you can import your categories, forums, topics, posts, users and private messages into UBB.threads.
There are a couple of things we are unable to import.
* Karma.
* User Passwords. Due to the encryption differences, we are unable to import passwords. After the import, your users can just request a temporary password to be mailed to them.
* Polls. SMF polls aren't attached to a topic id, so we are unable to import polls.

Due To Rick's recent unfortunate illness, Groupee will be again taking over the development of UBB.threads. Ted himself will again be at the helm, actually programming it. The new UBB.threads will be using the latest Ruby on Rails technology. Using new technologies such as ajax wherever possible to make it fit in with the web 2.0 directives that most people are looking to. Just think, with ajax you'll never have to have that ugly page refresh again, won't that be great?

Yes, this was an April Fools joke. Just wanted to clarify to calm the nerves of those that sent PMs on the topic
