PATH_INFO is an enviroment variable which allows the UBB to read the "miscelanious text" after ubbthreads.php; if you don't have this enabled on your server, you can't use short URLs.

Theres an option on the FAQ which covers this and ways to fix it.

I do however find it odd that rose's header dissapeared, i can't see why that would happen from enabling shorturls...
