As to the vi/pico thing:
I must say, I had a real turning point (years ago) when I was using my
Motorola Timeport (think clamshell precursor to the Blackberry) typing a message, and the thought came into my head "Man, this would be soooo much easier if this thing had vi on it."
I knew I'd passed some threshold into true geekdom.
