My ISP http://www.ikano.com aka/ http://www.amerion.com broke my account about 48 hours ago and can't seem to resurrect it. I lost FTP access so I can't log in to see anything. They MAY HAVE (but can't confirm) moved my files from Washington to Salt Lake City. The manager that is working the issue said my passwords to my sites have changed.

The BB suddenly showed a forum list with messages numbers as ZERO and some images missing. The next day there was no forum list. When I did a SEARCH just entering my BB user name I got a list of message threads and could read those threads.

I am able to turn the BB on and off from the control page.

My data/message files apopear to still be there.

Does anyone have any clue what these people might have done to break the site so I can get them looking in the right direction? Their technical people are not allowed or won't talk to me.

Is anyone else using IKANO.COM for hosting? DO they speak UBB there? (I am an acquired asset from Amerion.com)

Note my BB has run since 1999. I just re-uped and got the latest software but have not installed it yet. I have to get this working so I can do a backup.

Again, I get no list of forums when I go to the main page. (The BB is currently shut off. I dont want changes made if it is broke.)

Most common cause of a 5 series UBB showing no forums, but it actually does, of course, have forums is sooooo easy you're not going to believe it.

I bet you 3 M&M's that either you have categories but in your control panel you have it set not to display categories, or, you have it set to display categories buyt have none. The last possibility is that your categories file has turned up missing or has the wrong permisisons but the first two are the problem 99% of the time. Just one small setting in the control panel.....

Ok, I'll check that. I didn't make any changes like that though. Hmmm here I go!

I CAN use the control panel to look at my categories. They appear to be there all 40 of them. At least there is a a list. Be back in a minute.

Categry Display Option - Yes

Display only categories on first page - No

Display forum descriptions - Yes

File persmissions I can't say. Is there still a list of permission requirements for UNIX here at this site? That must be the problem.

Interestingly when this first happened there was a long fourty item forum list with descriptions but ALL message number values were at ZERO. The next day no list.

Turns out that Ikano.com is holding my site hostage! Not all the files were moved over. They are waiting for some bean counter to make a decision about the 1 gig of space I'm using (half of that is a log file whose size they won't let me manage.)

They are not allowing me yet to backup my site. Only some of the files have been copied over. They just did what they were allowed to copy and stopped. before all this happened I was told that all acquired assets would remain unaffected. That apparently was a lie.

I need a UBB hosting provider. An HONEST one. Any ideas?

Oh and they activated the incomplete site.....
