With 7.3 now in beta, I would like to make suggestions for 7.4. I will only include what I would like to see the most. - Color-codable polls, with the user to have the ability to give each bar a different color.
- Public poll option, where users who voted are displayed in the poll results
- WYSWIG editor - long overdue
- Nested and/or hybrid view options. For nested view, use collapsible posts. For longer threads in nested view, all posts should be displayed as collapsed by default.
- Bring back the expand/collapse feature of the UBB.threads 6.x series.
- Make the user list searchable.
- With the new drop down search menu introduced in 7.3, include a checkbox option to only search within the forum the user is browsing.
- A search all posts option if the administrator allows.
- The ability to show search results either as posts or as threads.
- An optional confirmation screen displaying similar threads by keywords before a user creates a new thread. This would prevent duplicate threads.
- A scrollbar box for threaded view. This will clean up the list of posts in long threads.

WYSIWYG I've recommended TinyMCE (its license would allow it to be combined with little issue, other than setting what BBCode we actually use and all that good stuff) Search able member list I believe is on the docket, right after a js library is agreed on... I like your search suggestions ... I am however curious how "An optional confirmation screen displaying similar threads by keywords before a user creates a new thread. This would prevent duplicate threads." will work; could you please elaborate?

This would prevent duplicate threads." will work; could you please elaborate? I assume he means something similar to the screen on some help desks, where it comes up with suggestions prior to posting. I think I would prefer a box at the bottom of each thread list 4 or 5 similar threads - this could be quite useful

I am however curious how "An optional confirmation screen displaying similar threads by keywords before a user creates a new thread. This would prevent duplicate threads." will work; could you please elaborate? This feature actually exists on Airliners.net's custom forum software. Before confirming to create a new thread, a page displaying a list of similar threads is shown. This prevents users from creating duplicate threads. Perhaps Ian's idea is good too, however, some sites only allow moderators/admins to delete threads if they are duplicates. I know that vBulletin features this, however, my idea actually prevents creation of duplicate threads BEFORE being posted.

I am not proposing deleting duplicate threads. However if a user (or search engine) visit a thread on say 'The Queen buys another corgi' then similar threads are displayed below.... 'Corgies are loyal pets' 'The Queen visits the USA' etc. If this is a search engine, then extra links are provided for it

Also: - Subtitles for threads. Invision has this feature, and I think it would be a nice addition to UBB.threads.
- Center and right align UBBcode markups
- A multi-quote feature, where users can select multiple posts to quote without doing copy-and-paste quoting
- An option for users to place the right and left panels on the top and bottom, respectively.

I would like to see who is looking at what forum and reading what topic at the top of the forum and topic respectively, which can already be done elsewhere.

I would also like to be able to see at the bottom of a forum the forum permissions, such as used to exist in UBB Classic.

Not saying it's not possible, but there is also only so much on-screen real estate

Pushed back to 7.4; the featureset was too rich for the timeframe we had to get 7.3 out the door.

- a tickbox to lock a forum when writing a response (as an admin). This way if you are locking a forum but want to add one last reply you can do it all at once (I believe UBBC had this handy feature)
- some sort of PM spam protection, maybe sending the admin an alert when a user sends "x" number of PMs in "z" amount of time. Or comparing a users PMs and alerting the admin if someone is sending out multiple identical messages
- multiple identity detector, there used to be a hack for this, but it would be great if this function was added to detect those that spam the forums or create havoc (or cheat in competitions) using multiple accounts

That was in ubb.c also, and if you really want it now, it's also available as hack for 7.2.2 on ubbdev.

With these days of SSL so freely available, I would like to see option in UBBthreads for use of https: for all login and logout, especially for mods and admins.
Just login and logout, don't want to run it all through SSL..

Agree; it'd be a nice option; i've hacked it in the past though (although it allowed ssl from https everywhere and didn't force it through any particular area)

* Page 2 of 5 First < 1 2 3 4 5 > Last
Made: Page 2 of 5 First Previous 1 2 3 4 5 Next Last
* User definable colors for users in shoutbox
* Uploads predefined prefixes
* Filesize after downloadname (Some ask for MD5 as well)
I wrote some hacks for 7.2.2 with these options but if this was made default in the core versions that would be just great..
Just some suggestions....

Rob I actually prefer the current pagination routine that was introduced in 7.3. I find it easier to navigate. The current pagination routine was actually introduced in version 6.2, but version 7.0 introduced the type that you describe. I am glad that 7.3 returns to the type that was introduced in 6.2, plus the addition of a drop-down menu where you can jump to a page number. Perhpas 7.4 can introduce an administrator option (or even better, a user option) to choose which style he or she prefers. Perhaps if it becomes a user option, your suggestion for pagination routine can be standard mode, while the style that is currently used in 7.3 can be enhanced mode.

The option to choose between these ways of pagination would be even better. But i can imagine that this option is a bit difficult or maybe to much work. But just make this possible by setting it up in the language file. Like: $ubbt_lang['PREV_PAGE'] = "<"; $ubbt_lang['NEXT_PAGE'] = ">";Which you can change to: $ubbt_lang['PREV_PAGE'] = "Previous page"; $ubbt_lang['NEXT_PAGE'] = "Next page";This would be great, a joy for everyone Rob

There is a lot of demand - and it will only increase - for being able to view forums, and for being able to view and respond to posts on handheld devices. I would like to see something that addresses that issue.

Also: - An administrator option for if someone votes in a poll, the thread is bumped to the top of the forum.
- Replace the radio button list of icons with a dynamic drop-down menu, similar to Eve.

I would like to see something that addresses that issue. I've been meaning to commend Rick that UBB (7.1 at least) is VERY iPhone friendly -- it works like a charm! Never had a problem, despite some problems on some other sites. So mega kudos, Rick!
GangsterBB.NET (Ver. 7.6.1.1) PHP Version 5.6.40 / MySQL 5.7.23-23 (was 5.6.41-84.1) / Apache 2.4.54 2007 Content Rulez Contest - Hon Mention UBB.classic 6.7.2 - RIP

New fresh theme/skin/style/design. As I have said, this one is absolutely ok (and even good, it seems like some people like it (I partly do :P), and some prefer the old UBB look or wants a new one), and it is not bad, but in order to compete the theme needs an update or a completely new look. That's what I think. I suggest to keep this one (and make it a choice) and a new one.
