is there a way to limit its search to a certain time frame? i have a board that has ten years of posts nearly, and when i try that new search box it takes FOREVER to search and i know its because its going back 10 yearrs, the default i have for searches.
we need a way to limit that separately from the current place in the control panel where we limit search time periods. i want users to be able to search back 10 years, in advanced search, but to have that as the default on the drop down search, which most will use now, is going to slow things down.
maybe this is possible now if so clue me in thanks.

He wants it to stay at 10 years for the "Avanced Search" page, but be smaller for the "Quick Search" dropdown; by changing this setting it would effect both.

really needs to be done for larger boards.
just GRINDS away on a search now.
one search had 2000+ with the drop down box, when i restricted it to one year it came right up in a couple seconds and had 50 or so results.

Just thinking on this, I would also like to see a quick forum search so someone can display a simple dropdown to search an individual forum.
