Is it possible to make an SQL connection to another database (other than where all my ubbt_* are in) in a custom island?

Like first closing current SQL connection and open a new one?
When i do that it's tells me that the database logging.ubbt_TOPICS doesn't excist. That's for sure but how can i get my external data in a custom island.
Perhaps a include session or maybe somebody else has another great idea?

I edited the portal_box_1.php in the cache directory with my editor and set the cache time to 0 and disabled the Alway Build option.
I'm running a crontab to make sure if the file still excists, if not then copy it from a safe location back to the cache directory

That's the option that works, if there are better options please let me know.
