UBB.threads PHP Forum Software Community Forums UBB.threads 6 Version 6 Support Read only problem with tables w3t_users & w3t_online

Our network administrator installed a new(er) version of Frontpage extensions (grrrr) to the same web server where mySQL and UBBthreads lives. No problem at this point. He then hated the install and downgraded to a previous version of the extensions. Immediately after the downgrade UBB crashed. Problem was with php...after hair tearing and a box click everything appeared fine again.

This morning, upon arriving at work and fielding a bunch of panicked user calls I find the following error message:

In addition, I am unable to access the adminstration page <sigh>

My guess is that it is hosed file (or I_user?) permissions but I am unsure what permissions my mySQL folders need.

When I look at the database using phpmyadmin and try the reapair table option (for any table) I get the following error message: [:"blue"] Table 'w3t_online' is read only[/]

Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

To late to edit the post but here is more info...When I look at the files using [right click - properties] [:"blue"] each one has the read only box checked[/] is this the problem? In fact almost every file on this server has the read only box checked. Kinda weird.

Chances are that something (or someone) marked a large part of the drive and installation read-only. The database files are probably included. They'll need to be manually un-marked.

FrontPage extensions are one of the most pure forms of evil that exist in this universe. I'd highly suggest ditching it. <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Got to disagree Charles <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> - I have many sites running FP - threads runs fine on a FP site as well - no problems at all (okay, you can't use FP to access the threads folder - but it will work fine) - I have even re-installed the extensios to a site containing threads without any issues (6.3.x), and would have no hesitation in doign so again. I have yet to find one script that I cannot run on a FP site. (Apart from ASP, as all my servers are Linux <img src="https://www.ubbcentral.com/boards/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> )

This server has FrontPage extensions installed. It's not that they were installed, it's how FrontPage is installed that matters.

That'll be the issue. The MYD, MYI, and FRM files that MySQL keeps for teh data in your database are probably read only as well.
