Apache on the Server. Did you actually open or save it and was it actual PHP code or was it blank or just html of your site?
I still say the SERVER is the one having an issue here not your site in general and not UBBT.
I agree with Geoff that you don't appear to need a dedicated or virtual private server (unless you have spare cash hanging around)
Hopefully a fluke and they'll have it fixed soon, if not then yes I'd look for a new provider.
